Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"I visited scotland for a little over 2 weeks, spent a few days in the Edinburgh and Cupar areas, and rode 1200 miles around the north of Scotland, including the NC500, with a couple of buddies on motorcycles. Without the ability to prepare more than camp meals while traveling, we ate out quite a bit and I’ll say in that time I had more than my share of a full English and a full Scottish breakfast. That said, of all the hotels, restaurants, and cafes we stopped at across the entire country, including my meals in airports and finer dining in Edinburgh, this coffee shop provided the best meal I had anywhere. The portion was quite generous for the price and everything was delicious. I had to rest partway through the meal to get through it, it was so large. Furthermore, and I mean this literally and without hyperbole, I had The Best Cup of Coffee I’ve ever had in my entire life while there. I acknowledge that setting a high bar for your coffee is a losing battle as most good coffee is mediocre at best - however, the beans they use and the way they were ground and brewed/pulled yielded such a complex blend of subtle aromas and flavors as I had never before had. The previous best cup of coffee I’d had was a cup of cold brew at a shop that closed down several years ago, so please don’t let that fate befall this shop. If you’re in the area - anywhere NEAR Ladybank, take a few minutes to enjoy a meal and a cup of coffee at The Kilt Maker’s Coffee Shop. I don’t know if I’ll ever be back, so have a cup for me and a cup for all of us poor deprived Texans who don’t have access such great coffee or haggis."
"Lovely little step back in time cafe. Food was amazing with most being homemade. The only niggle was the one member of staff who made no attempt to interact with anyone and smile. The other woman was very friendly."
"Alex makes the best butter bean soup ever! the experience at Kiltmakers coffee after Lomond hills hike is unforgettable! -also I advise you to give their coffee beans a shot!-"
"Great coffee shop with friendly service directly opposite Ladybank railway station. Vegan breakfast cooked with care and love and it was fabulous - haggis, square sausage and black pudding all included for £11.95. Loved the black coffee, too. Allow a little extra time, as everything is cooked fresh- then just sit back and enjoy! Recommended!"
"I ordered the eir specialty… a homemade roll. There are a lot of fillings to choose from. I choose the cheeses scrambled eggs with bacon. Literally the BEST scrambled eggs I have ever had! And she asked me how I want my bacon cooked. So so good! My friend is gluten free and she ordered a tuna melt toasty and just cheese toast and said they were both very good. We even ordered more to go because it can be hard finding food this good."
"Lovely and homely atmosphere. Cheesecake the best ive ever tasted. Art on the walls to buy. Great place x"
"Popped in here today for lunch at the recommendation of a local friend, we were not disappointed. I was very impressed with the vegetarian/vegan options (not always easy to come by), really just good options for all types of diets. Soup and Toasties hit the spot. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and you can tell they prepare each order fresh. I'd like to come back to try their breakfast!"
"This is a great find. The food is good, with the breakfast being one of the best value for size I've come across. The service is outstanding, caring and attentive. There is a superb range of gluten free cakes, as well as a great selection of coffees. One of my favourites."
